4. Burning Farm () was the debut album of vocalist and guitarist Naoko Yamano, drummer and backing vocalist Atsuko Yamano, and bassist and vocalist Michie Nakatani, a.k.a. Shonen Knife. A throwback to 70's power-pop a la the Ramones or Devo, with some Beatles mixed in, and titles and lyrics that are either silly, disjointed, and/or surreal a /5(13).

5. It is almost entirely in Japanese, with only "Twist Barbie" on the original release in English. The Japanese 8" vinyl (Zero Records ) had eight songs. The CD re-issue bonus tracks "Parrot Polynesia", "Watchin' Girl" and "Banana Fish" first appeared on the Zero Records compilation LP Aura Music in November

6. They're sort of like an Asian version of the musically retarded band The Shaggs, though Shonen Knife can actually keep timing. This is the type of album you could write in 25 minutes while taking a dump on the toilet.. but that's kind of what makes it magical/5(4).

Shonen Knife, written in Japanese as 少年ナイフ, which transliterates as Shōnen Naifu, literally "Boy Knife", is an all-female Japanese pop-punk band formed in Osaka, Japan, in Heavily influenced by s girl groups, pop bands, The Beach Boys, and early punk rock bands, such as the Ramones, the trio crafts stripped-down songs with simplistic lyrics sung both in Japanese .
